Learn dealership secrets and car buying tips from a successful trainer and
sales manager. He knows the techniques that the dealerships don’t want
you to know when you purchase that new or used car, rv or boat.
1. Do your research before going to the dealership. Educate yourself on
the car and the features you want before you walk onto their lot. Plan
ahead and learn what alternatives are available. Most important, don’t
settle on one dealership. Go to three big ones to compare and get an idea
of what the automobile of your choice is selling for.
2. Try to buy at the end of the month. They have to make a quota by the
end of the month so the pressure is on them to sway you to buy now
rather than later. Use that to your advantage. If they see you are ready to
leave or want to shop around, it might encourage them to improve the
deal. They will also be more willing to reduce the price.
3. Never finance at the dealership without knowing the actual interest rate
and what your exact monthly payment will be. Make sure you have the
figures you agreed to in writing. These dealerships work on commission
and will get as much from you as you let them. This is called “padding the
payment” which is illegal, but is still widely practiced. Keep in mind that
financing through the dealer, service contracts & GAP insurance may be a
better deal for him than for you.
4. Before you trade-in your car, go to three dealerships. Ask if you can
trade the car without buying one in return. This keeps everyone honest.
Get the trade in writing. Don’t bring up the trade until the end because the
salesman will use it as a pinning point. An example is: “Would you buy
right now if I can get you more for the trade?”
5. When entering the dealership, take all emotion out of buying the car, rv
or boat.
6. Remember to be nice--there is no reason to be impolite. It’s a fact that
people who came in and were friendly got a better deal than the ones with
the attitude.
7. Don’t believe that smaller dealerships can get you a better deal. They
can’t!
8. Keep in mind that the automobile sales person is trained to control you
from the start. Their main objective is to get you to leave their dealership in
that new or used car, rv or boat.
9) And the biggest car buying tips or secret of all, when it comes to buying your Car, Boat, or RV, pick three main dealerships and go online to there website. You will get the best deal by far if you do your research online. A little know fact, when car dealerships put there cars online they have to put the best price out there period. Why you Ask? Dealerships know they only have one shot to get your business online and I know for a fact we would sell off all autos online for $200.00 hundred over what’s called net net (it is what a dealer pays for it.)
